Three people have been reportedly killed by heavily armed hoodlums suspected to be cultists in Ibaa, a community Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Information available to NIGERIA NEWS revealed that the suspected cultists stormed on Monday morning in order to revenge perceived injustice to their, members.

A source who pleaded anonymity disclose to Nigeria NEWS that the suspected cultists are members of a cult group known as Icelanders in the area.

The source further said that trouble started when another cult group called Deygbam evicted the Icelanders from the area.

According to the source, the return of the Icelanders led to the killing of the three persons as the source also noted that the reprisal attack may be to cause chaos in the community

In the words of the source: “Iceland boys invaded our community today (yesterday) and killed three innocent people. The community is in fear as we talk now.”

The police weres unable to confirm the incident as at the time of filing this report as all efforts to contact the Public Relations Officer of Rivers State Command, Nnamdi Omoni, was futile.

Incidents of cult clash have become rampant in Rivers State, and many have lost their lives in the process.

Residents of some communities have because of crises between cult groups abandoned their home in order to seek for safer places.

Properties worth millions of naira have perished as a result of controversies between different cult groups in the state.

NIGERIA NEWS has previously reported several atrocities which range between killing, maiming, burning down of houses, destruction of properties which were allegedly carried out by suspected cult members in the state.

The clash has always been hinged on the quest for power or in showing support for one political party or a politician.
